I feel like this weekend was enough of an adventure that I wanna write about it. xD

So I went to Wisconsin for a bike race. On the way there, my dad's car threatened to die multiple times, but fortunately we got there without too much trouble.
We were in a different cabin than usual, actually it was brand new. When we got to the place, we didn't know where it was - turns out it was back in the woods away from the main lodge and the other cabins. It was really gorgeous, and I want to steal it! xD New dream house I think.

That night we went out to eat at a place we've been to most years, and it usually has decent service and food, but this year the service was terrible! The waitress obviously didn't know what she was doing, had probably never served as large a group [13 people!], and didn't seem to speak English very well. We ordered drinks, and like half an hour later we finally started getting them, and ordered our food. 15 minutes later, she came back and told a couple people that what they'd ordered wasn't available that night. Some of the guys got really frustrated and just went over to the bar. Then she came with salads for 4 of us, but not the rest. 20 minutes later another 4 salads came, and we were pretty pissed off by then. One of the more senior waitresses came up and apologized, gave us a free round of drinks, and left again. Fortunately, when our food finally came, it was delicious, but the whole experience was a giant pain in the ass and not worth 20 bucks and up a plate.

One of the guys that was there is constantly drunk, and he was incredibly wasted that night. He thought going swimming sounded like a bright idea... fortunately he was talked out of it and went to sleep. The most memorable quote of the night came from his stepmother. "No wonder the little bugger was so wasted, he drank all my goddamn rum!" She then proceeded to attempt to go wake him up and yell at him.

The next day was the race, which is always fun. I almost ended up riding this year - one of our family friends has been having problems with her hips and decided not to race, but I hadn't been training and didn't have my inhaler, so I didn't dare.

That night, we had an amazing meal, complete opposite of the night before. My dad drank half a gallon of beer! Then he proceeded to fall down a hill.

Yesterday, we were on our way home when the car died. It was old and tired ['89 Buick, 294,000 miles on her, I'm surprised she made it that long.] So we had to leave my dad, the car, and most of our stuff sitting by the side of the road and hitch a ride home with some of our friends that were there with us - they didn't even have a backseat in the car, just the backrest, because they had the seat folded down to fit their stuff. Four hours back to pick up the other car [I got dropped off at my apartment, thank goodness. xD], and then four more hours to get back and pick up dad and stuff. I don't envy my mom that driving.

So now I'm dead tired, determined to race next year, and stuck back in the city after a lovely weekend in the woods.
